They won’t. Save yourself a lot of time and heartache, don’t waste your time looking online for designs to cover your old tattoo. Good cover-up jobs don’t work like this. They have to be specially designed to work with your old tattoo. Let your tattooist do their job of figuring out the new design, this is what you’re paying them for. On the other hand, it would be a good idea to start collecting photo of tattoos and designs that you really like. This will help your tattooist get a better idea of what you’re into so, that they can work it into your new piece.

Unless you have large areas of solid black, most tattoos can be covered without the need to first lighten your tattoo. Laser removal is the best way to lighten a very dark tattoo and this tool can give even the most hideous dark tattoos hope for a brighter future. That being said, be prepared to spend a lot of money for the laser work, it is not cheap. It does however, give you more options as to what you can cover your old tattoo with.
